The Gong Lab welcomes trainees and collaborators who are passionate about using AI and informatics to improve cancer care and clinical trial access.

Who we’re looking for

We are interested in working with students and researchers who have backgrounds in:

  • Computer science, bioinformatics, or computational biology
  • Clinical informatics and health data science
  • Natural language processing and machine learning
  • Biostatistics and epidemiology
  • Medical oncology or related clinical fields

Prior experience with electronic health records, OMOP, or clinical NLP is helpful but not required for all projects.

Opportunities

Yale graduate students & postdocs
We collaborate with programs in Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics (CBB), Biomedical Informatics & Data Science, and related Yale departments. Contact Dr. Gong to discuss rotation projects, thesis work, or postdoctoral opportunities.

Yale medical and undergraduate students
We regularly mentor students on clinical informatics projects, including eligibility criteria NLP, trial matching evaluation, and EHR data analysis. Prior students have contributed to published protocols and software tools.

Visiting scholars & collaborators
We welcome collaborations with investigators at other institutions working on clinical trial informatics, real-world evidence, or oncology AI.
